Back to the Books

Wofford’s campus is Alive again as all students have returned, study rooms are a hot commodity, the dining hall is at max capacity, fraternity row is blasting music, and the stomach churning fear of tests has returned (not for me praise God).

This first month has been crucial to meet new students and launch the ministry well into the fall semester. A few highlights:
-250 students came to the cookout the first week of classes
-130 students came to the first campus meeting mid-September
-Started Bible studies with freshman guys/girls, football team, sophomore and junior girls
-23 girls are involved in the freshman girls Bible study

Cookout- first week of classes. Over 250 served!
Playing Baseball at Wofford- Actually, I haven’t played baseball since 6th grade but God has been gracious to open doors to meet a lot of the baseball team so far this semester.
I have been able to meet 3 of the 8 freshmen, and reconnect with a number of upperclassmen players.  Join me in praying for a Bible study with around 5-7 guys on the team and continued time to build relationships with the rest of the team.

Honestly, it’s pretty intimidating to think that God would use me to reach this team.  Please pray for:
- faith to step outside of my comfort zone to meet these guys
-the time, energy and perseverance to build relationships with these guys
-boldness and opportunity to share not just who Jesus is but why he had to give up his throne in heaven to sacrifice himself on the cross for my/their sins.

Now and a Lifetime: It is mind-boggling that the very message that gives life “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God,” (2 Cor 5:21) can be so hard sometimes for me to share. It is faith-building challenges like this- building relationships and sharing my faith with the baseball team- that I hope will not be just a memory of my time with Campus Outreach, but a lifetime conviction to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matt 28:19).
