On Nov 6th, 300+ students from our 5 college campuses flooded Greenville to hear the Josh Ridings Band and Christian rap artist Flame. Both Josh, who leads worship at Hope Point Community Church, and Flame will be at our New Year’s Conference in DC, so the concert was a small taste of conference. Through their music and Flame’s presentation of the gospel of Christ between songs, it was neat to see a glimpse of God's redemption of rap music. Two football players who came from Wofford seemed a little skeptical of the concert at first, but both left with Flame’s CD and were eager to talk to him about his story afterwards- both guys are considering coming to DC with us so please pray to that end!

Answered prayer- Leaving work one day this past month, I had my mental GPS headed home for dinner and a nap. Thankfully, God used His Spirit to encourage me past my “tiredness” and remind me of the reasons I came to work with a college ministry. So my mental GPS rerouted to the campus dining hall and I asked God for an opportunity to see some of the guys on the baseball team and hopefully have a spiritual conversation. Finding my way to the baseball table- yep, fraternities and teams usually stick to the same seats- I ate with a number of the guys. The table started empting and one of the freshmen guys stayed to talk. I was able to ask about his spiritual background which led into an opportunity to share mine the gospel of Christ. It wasn’t until after I had gotten home that I realized how abundantly God had answered my prayer by His grace! This guy wasn’t a Christian and even as he heard the reason for Christ (maybe for the first time), I was reminded of the worthiness of the Savior who had died for my sins. That’s what makes this job so awesome; I am pushed closer to Christ even as God opens doors to point others to Christ. Please pray for continued conversations with him.
Coming Dec 29th, we'll be in Washington, DC for our New Year’s Conference-themed AL!VE after 1 Cor 15:22 "so in Christ all will be made alive." We are eagerly inviting students from our campuses, knowing these five days are an opportunity for students to meet with Christ, grow alongside a community, learn, worship and get to know other students. Please continue to pray that 5 baseball guys and 55 students would come from Wofford- the registration deadline is Dec 5! Check out the conference website at www.aliveconference.com.
